Guest Post Book Promo: The Sun Zebra, by R. Garcia

The Sun Zebra: a children’s book for grownups

Imagine you are hanging out with your family in the Fourth of July weekend on a farm in the middle of Pennsylvania, and your daughter excitedly comes over to tell you she has found a zebra! What would you think? What would you do? That is how the first story in my book “The Sun Zebra” begins. But there are four more stories where an insect boldly embarks on a courageous trek, Poe’s poem “The Raven” is given a new twist, a Christmas tree reveals its secrets, and a forgotten superhero makes a triumphant return.

These are the stories I have grouped together into what I call a “children’s book for grownups.” Its aim is to help adults see the world through the eyes of a child. I feel this book is necessary because many of us adults have forgotten the magic and wonder that defines the world of children. The stories are fun to read and they may even make you laugh or cry (or both) when you remember that receding world that you inhabited a long time ago.

But make no mistake; these stories go beyond the “cute”. They are inspirational and motivational. As one reviewer wrote: “This little book is like iced tea on a hot day. It changes things inside of you.” I could not have put this better myself. The family in the first story does go “look for the zebra,” but what they find is an animal that is part flesh and part metaphor.

I hope you can go look for the zebra too. It will be free on Amazon from Wednesday April 11 to Friday April 13. The book is a short read. Download it for free and let me know what you think about it.
